About the Role
This position involves supervising participants and youth counselors, ensuring safety, and facilitating daily activities for a summer youth program. You will work closely with the GAINS Director and interact with city and state agencies to maintain compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities
- Attend all required training sessions, staff meetings, and parent meetings.
- Supervise the daily safety and activities of participants, including leading them to and from activity areas and field trips.
- Supervise and guide youth counselors (high school students) assigned to the program.
- Plan, follow, and implement daily activities and organized games for participants.
- Assist in developing and overseeing the daily program schedule.
- Maintain up-to-date camper records and manage online attendance.
- Treat students with respect, encouraging mutual respect and adhering to Child Care Regulations for discipline.
- Engage students in the development and implementation of activities.
- Assist with student performances, snack/meal preparation and distribution.
- Plan and implement active and diverse gym programs following provided curriculum.
- Assist with general cleaning of program areas.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in child development, elementary education, or a related field, or two years of college with 18 credits in a related field, or a School-Age Child Care credential.
- One year of experience in a supervisory capacity.
- 2–3 years of work experience with school-aged children (under 13 years of age).
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain training).
- Completion of 15 hours of in-service training during the first year and 30 hours every two years thereafter.
