Gaelic-Irish Interpreter

About the role

LanguageLine Solutions is hiring a Gaelic-Irish Interpreter to work remotely from home. This is an independent contractor position and not eligible for employee benefits.

Responsibilities

• Handle interpreting sessions promptly and professionally.
• Render accurate interpretations between Gaelic-Irish and English speakers.
• Speak clearly and politely in both languages.
• Maintain a professional demeanor during interpreting sessions.
• Stay calm and neutral during emotionally charged calls.
• Adapt to LLS technology enhancements to improve service delivery.
• Follow client instructions and comply with protocol.
• Understand and respect cultural sensitivities and diversity.

Qualifications

• Fluency in Gaelic-Irish and English.
• Cultural competency and regional accent awareness.
• Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive topics and emergencies.
• Education or work experience in language-related fields.
• Work authorization that allows employment in the United States.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and write Gaelic-Irish and English.

• Able to operate a keyboard and mouse for extended periods.
• Must be able to lift up to 26 lbs.
• May be exposed to moderate noise levels.

Technical Requirements

• Dedicated personal device for business purposes.
• Desktop/Laptop Computers with Windows, MacOS, or ChromeOS.
• Tablets (iPadOS or Android).
• Smartphones (iOS or Android).
• High-speed Internet connection with download speeds of no less than 5 Mbps, upload speeds of 3 Mbps, Ping value of no more than 300 ms, and Jitter value of no more than 30 ms.
• Access to a quiet space free from background noise or distraction.
