About the Role

Under the direction of the school principal, this position plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for students, fostering an atmosphere conducive to intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development. The role involves supervising students in various school settings, evaluating student outcomes, and interacting with students, parents, staff, and the community.

This position is split into two roles: 0.6 (60%) as a Project Lead the Way (Engineering) teacher and 0.4 (40%) as an Internship coordinator.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, select, and modify instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students.
  • Maintain appropriate records and follow required procedures and practices.
  • Monitor and evaluate student outcomes.
  • Communicate and interact with students, parents, staff, and the community.
  • Supervise students in school-related settings.
  • Ensure appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Attend school meetings, programs, and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by the MCEA contract.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field of education from an accredited college or university.
  • Secondary school diploma with at least five years of full-time industry experience in the discipline to be taught within the last 10 years, or a bachelor’s degree in education with demonstrated industry experience.
  • Meets Maryland state certification requirements in the appropriate field of education.
  • Industry licensures and/or industry certification preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of MCPS curriculum, techniques for integrating curriculum, MCPS policies, and effective instructional practices.
  • Understanding of the teaching/learning process.
  • Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education.
  • Ability to infuse technology into the curriculum.
  • Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office and school-based staff, students, parents, and the community.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.

Pay

Salary range for this position is between $66,690 and $135,745, based on education and experience.
