Summary Description
Under the direction of the High School Principal, the resource teacher (RT) provides leadership to departments or subject fields, supports classroom teachers in the instructional program, serves as an instructional role model, and supports the development of a professional learning community within the department and school. Observes and analyzes instructional practices related to teachers' professional growth and evaluation, collaborates with supervisors and colleagues on instructional issues, takes a leadership role in the handling of instructional resources, supports the development of the master schedule. Stays current on content and best practices in the specified subject field. Serves as a liaison to the central office on subject matter and instructional issues.

- Required to attend school meetings, programs and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by the MCEA agreement.
Job Specific Information
- This position is for a full-time Resource Teacher for our CTE department which includes Computer Science, Engineering, Child Development, and Internships.
- Candidates for this position should be familiar with Project Lead The Way as they will be teaching Principles of Engineering.
- The wage range for this position is a salary between $66,690 and $135,745 based on education and experience.

Job Information
- This job includes required summer days for which you will be compensated at your regular rate of pay.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of instructional strategies and content knowledge for specified subject field(s).
- Ability to work effectively with adults in a professional learning environment; observe and analyze classroom teaching skills and assess delivery of curriculum to students;
- Excellent oral and written, communication, organizational, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge and application of the six performance standards that have been established for the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Teacher Professional Growth System (TPGS), and the Supporting Services (SEIU) Professional Growth System (SSPGS).
Education, Training, Experience
- A Masters degree or Masters Equivalency (MEQ) in applicable field from an accredited college or university required.
- A minimum of five years successful secondary teaching with three of those years in the appropriate subject field with one year in MCPS preferred/ Experience with instructional leadership, curriculum implementation, and professional development desirable.
- Completion of Observing and Analyzing Teaching (OAT 1) by the beginning of the second year of the assignment and (OAT 2) by the end of the second year in assignment.
- Certificate License: Meets Maryland state certification requirements in appropriate field of education.
