About the role

This is a temporary, part-time position supervising the design and construction of sets and properties for a minimum of two major theatrical productions annually (one play and one musical). Duties are performed after school hours during the academic year (September through June).

The sponsor is responsible for supervising students in classrooms, auditoriums, and other meeting areas, fostering a culture of fairness and equity.

Requirements

To be hired as a coach (including this technical director role), applicants must meet one of the following certification levels:

• Certified Coach:
  • Be an MCPS teacher or professional certified educator employed by MCPS.
  • Have completed or be enrolled in the two-credit MCPS course "Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries, Coaching Fundamentals, and CPR/AED" (offered periodically through the MCPS Athletics Unit).
  • Complete and submit the online MCPS application.
• Level I Emergency Coach:
  • Be a certified teacher (not employed by MCPS).
  • Have completed the two-credit MCPS course "Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries, Coaching Fundamentals, and CPR/AED."
  • Complete and submit the online MCPS application.
• Level II Emergency Coach:
  • Be a high school graduate and at least 21 years of age.
  • Have completed the two-credit MCPS course "Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries, Coaching Fundamentals, and CPR/AED."
  • Complete and submit the online MCPS application.

Applicants must be interviewed and hired by the principal or designee at the school where the vacancy exists. Coaches are hired for one season, with preference given to qualified MCPS teachers or professional certified educators.

Pay

The stipend for this position is $5,994.00.

• Part-time, temporary position (no benefits).
• Work is performed after school hours during the academic year (September through June).
