Summary Description

CREA is an evening academic and career readiness education program for older English learners in Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS). Students in CREA are provided with opportunities to prepare for the GED exam, learn valuable work skills, and earn industry certifications. This paraeducator supports students who are diploma bound and enrolled in the CREA program.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate student mastery of academy goals and personal career readiness goals.
• Perform a variety of instructional and classroom management supports.
• Support teachers and other professional staff in all types of classrooms or learning environments.
• Provide student transportation to and from the program as a certified bus operator.

Requirements

• Frequent bending, walking, and lifting of objects/equipment up to 50 pounds may be required.
• Evening work required.
• Outside duty may be required.
• Must be able to accommodate flexible scheduling and change of location as needed.
• Continues planned instructional activities during teacher's temporary absence from the classroom.

Special Requirements

• Spanish fluency preferred.
• Must be able to work 4PM to 10PM.
• Background in science, math, social studies and/or English preferred.
• Must be eligible/able to complete bus operator training and obtain a Maryland Class B Commercial Drivers License with air brakes, passenger and school bus endorsements or equivalent within the first three months of hire.

Pay and Benefits
