FY27: Lunch Hour Aide, 3.5 hrs / 10mos, Stone Mill ES, TPT

About the Role

Under general supervision, monitors student activities and behavior on the playground and during student lunch periods. Monitors class during testing or brief absence of teacher; may assist teachers in classroom activities, and perform general clerical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Patrol and supervise students during recess, lunch, and other activities.
• Enforce safety rules, behavior standards, and playground/cafeteria procedures.
• Monitor classes during testing or brief teacher absences.
• Assist teachers with classroom activities and perform general clerical tasks.
• Communicate effectively with students, staff, and others.

Requirements

• High School or GED diploma required.
• Experience working with children of elementary school age.
• Knowledge of applicable school regulations, practices, and procedures.
• Knowledge of games appropriate for recess play.
• Some knowledge of child development and student behavior management techniques.
• Ability to meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).
• First aid and CPR certificate desirable.

• Patience and demonstrated ability to work effectively with children.
• Ability to supervise playground and recreational activities in all weather conditions.

Physical Demands

• Ability to patrol for extended periods of time and during all types of weather.
• Ability to supervise and enforce safety rules during playground and cafeteria activities.

Pay

Wage range for this assignment is between $18.00 and $22.00 per hour, depending on factors such as prior experience in MCPS and current negotiated agreements.

Schedule

• Part-time position: 3.5 hours per day, 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
• 10 working months per year.
• Day shift.

This is a Temporary Part-Time (TPT) position that does not include benefits.
