About the Role
Under the direction of the school principal, plans and provides English language development (ELD) instruction for students identified as eligible for ELD services through the state-mandated English language proficiency test. Collaborates with administrators, counselors, teachers, and other school staff to address the needs of individual Emergent Multilingual Learner (EML) students. Serves as a resource for information on EML students, cultural and linguistic differences, English language development, and the ELD instructional program. Provides support to explain the ELD program to parents and acts as a resource for students, parents, staff, and the community as needed.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver ELD instruction to eligible students.
- Collaborate with school staff to address the needs of EML students.
- Serve as a resource for cultural, linguistic, and instructional support related to ELD.
- Communicate with parents about the ELD instructional program.
- Support students, parents, staff, and the community as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Maryland teacher certification in ESOL/ELD.
- Considerable knowledge of second language teaching and learning methods.
- Ability to work effectively with administrators, counselors, and other school staff.
- Ability to support students in adjusting to the academic and cultural environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fluency in another language in addition to English.

Job Specific Information
This is a Temporary Part-Time (TPT) position that does not include benefits. The role operates on a 10-month schedule with daytime hours.
