FY27: Instructional Specialist, Division of Teaching and Learning, 1.0 FTE

About the role

Provides a wide variety of supports to meet the needs of the Division of Teaching and Learning and the system related to: graduation validation; secondary school courses; secondary course catalog and course code management; transcripts; School SAT and PSAT day; Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE), Montgomery County, and MCPS related reports and accountability; National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) eligibility; and project management support.

Responsibilities

• Graduation validation and assisting students in meeting graduation requirements
• Management of secondary school courses, course catalog, and course codes
• Transcript management and related reporting
• Coordination of School SAT and PSAT day
• Preparation of MSDE, Montgomery County, and MCPS reports and accountability documents
• Support for NCAA eligibility processes
• Project management support for division initiatives
• Accessing and analyzing student data using Performance Matters and Synergy
• Communication and collaboration with outside partners, MCPS administrators, and school-based staff

Requirements

• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university
• Minimum of three years’ successful experience as a teacher, counselor, or administrator
• Current Maryland state standard and advanced professional certificate in a teaching or counseling area
• Experience with scheduling students and MCPS courses and course codes (preferred)
• Experience related to high school graduation requirements, courses, programs of study, transcripts, and student eligibility (preferred)

Skills

• Considerable knowledge of public school courses of study and elementary/middle school programs, preferably within MCPS
• Knowledge of public school education-related policies and regulations
• Excellent organizational and project management skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders
• Proficiency in accessing student data using Performance Matters and Synergy
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Special Requirements

• Some evening meetings with parent or community groups

Pay

Salary for 12-month positions ranges from $78,361 to $159,500 based on education and experience.
