Qualifications

  • Completed at least 2 years of study (48 semester hours) at an institution of higher education;
  • Obtained an associate’s (or higher) degree;
  • Met a rigorous standard of quality as determined by a formal assessment.

Job Goal

To provide a well-organized, smoothly functioning class environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials; to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation education, in accordance with each pupil’s ability.

Functions Essential

  • INSTRUCTION AND ASSESSMENT: Deliver small group instruction program to underperforming students in an organized and effective manner by following a program and directives that engage students in learning to build fundamental skills to help them get closer to grade level. Learn to effectively deliver instruction and routinely use desired remediation programs. Recognize and respond appropriately to individual differences in students. Implement adopted curriculum subject matter standards and assessment instruments to meet school and district goals. Demonstrate knowledge of the subjects to be taught and the relationship to other subjects. Reflect on teaching and devise ways of improving performance on an ongoing basis. Collaborate with other educators to create the most complete educational environment possible for students. Utilize technology in the teaching and learning process.
  • CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT: Exhibit effective classroom management skills by providing a physical environment that is safe, orderly, hazard-free, and conducive to learning. Consistently implement approved disciplinary measures to allow for effective instruction and classroom management.
  • COMMUNICATION: Exhibit effective communication skills by demonstrating effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Participate in in-service training programs, as assigned. Complete the approved district Professional Development Program. Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as the immediate supervisor may from time to time assign. Demonstrate a commitment to professional growth.
  • POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: Comply with district and school policies by adhering to policies and procedures established by district, school, state, and federal guidelines. Submit required reports efficiently, promptly, and accurately. Inventory classroom materials, textbooks, and equipment.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
