Responsibilities

  • Understand and follow all safety procedures
  • Adhere to work procedures as set forth by ISO, ASTM, and DOT documentation
  • Read and interpret blueprints as required by operation
  • Perform fusion on various diameters and SDRs of PE Pipe and fittings, including any combination of at least two Fusion Fabrication Technician 1 certifications, hydraulic butt fusion, and/or sidewall fusion
  • Pass annual fusion re-certification examinations to remain qualified
  • Clean, label, and box products in the department as needed
  • Maintain a safe working environment for all employees
  • Adhere to regular attendance per the GFCP Attendance Policy and assigned schedule
  • Follow all company policies and procedures at all times
  • Meet or exceed production standards of all work centers daily
  • Maintain quality standards on all products daily, including in-process testing log sheets
  • Assemble components as required by work instructions and SOPs
  • Verify that all fusion equipment is in good condition and performing as designed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Support and participate in overall EH&S programs
  • Adhere to ISO 9001 Quality, ISO 14001 Environmental, and OHSAS 18001 certification requirements

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • At least 60 days of hydraulic butt fusion or sidewall fusion experience
  • Certification in any combination of at least two Fusion Fabrication Technician 1 certifications, as well as hydraulic butt fusion and/or sidewall fusion
  • Good attendance record and employment in good standing (no final warning or suspension)
  • No more than 2 non-conformances during a rolling 12-month period

Skills

  • Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a manufacturing environment
  • Thorough, accurate, and error-free work
  • Ability to select proper component parts required for a work center
  • Advanced knowledge of all fusion machines in the department
  • Ability to understand and utilize measurement tools specific to the area or product

Working Conditions

  • Typical office/factory environment with possible exposure to heat in production areas
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. safely
  • Clarity of vision and ability to focus on fast and repetitious operations for extended periods
  • Exposure to heavy equipment or components (safety-toed shoes required)
  • Exposure to sparks, chips, and dust (eye protection required)
  • Capable of maintaining a 40-hour workweek and working overtime as needed
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions such as walking, reaching, bending, twisting, stooping, pushing, pulling, and standing for extended periods
  • Exposure to machine noise levels (hearing protection required)
  • Exposure to electrical and mechanical moving parts
  • Exposure to extreme seasonal temperature conditions
