Further Product Tech VB (Night Shift)

About the role

This position involves learning, performing, and rotating between the roles of packer, scaler, styler, and grader. Team members must maintain line speeds on any given product at the designated rate.

Responsibilities

• Work on a moving conveyor belt using both hands; spread or style product by hand on the belt
• Perform multiple types of packing and weighing
• Pull bones from product; inspect, grade, and remove product that does not meet standards
• Participate as a member of the team, including ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies
• Coordinate work to ensure best practices with all team members; attend appropriate team meetings
• Foster strong cohesiveness regarding major issues such as direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc.
• Quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bring them to the attention of the team leader, and work with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues
• Actively look for ways to achieve synergy within the larger organization
• Maintain familiarity with Simmons' established operating systems (quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN), understand this position's role in supporting these systems, and communicate concerns and improvement ideas
• Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives

Physical requirements

• Move, push, or pull up to 50 pounds from the table to the scales at waist level
• Bend, stoop, walk, stand, and work in a cold, wet, noisy, dusty environment for the entire shift
• Repetitive motion; may include rotating through cold and hot areas of the plant

Personal protective equipment (PPE)

• Standard waterproof gloves, sleeves, hearing protection, slip-resistant footwear

Industry preference

Preference for poultry or food processing organization.
