About the role

You will learn, perform, and rotate between the positions of packer, scaler, styler, and grader as needed to maintain line speeds on any given product at the designated rate.

Responsibilities

• Work on a moving conveyor belt using both hands.
• Spread or style product by hand on the belt.
• Perform multiple types of packing and weighing.
• Pull bones from product; inspect, grade, and remove product that does not meet standards.
• Participate as a member of the team, including attending team meetings and fostering cohesiveness on major issues.
• Identify areas lacking cohesiveness and work with the team to resolve them.
• Reinforce actions needed to achieve synergy within the larger organization.
• Maintain familiarity with Simmons’ operating systems (e.g., quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN) and understand your role in supporting these systems.
• Communicate concerns and improvement ideas related to operating systems.
• Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.

Physical Activities

• Move, push, or pull up to 55 pounds from table to scales at waist level.
• Bend, stoop, walk, stand, and work in a cold, wet, noisy, and dusty environment for the entire shift.
• Perform repetitive motion and rotate through cold and hot areas of the plant.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

• Standard waterproof gloves and sleeves.
• Hearing protection.
• Slip-resistant footwear.

Experience

• Preference for experience in poultry or food processing organizations.
• Military experience is valued and welcomed.
