Furniture Manufacturing Technician - Top Line
General Purpose
This position assembles furniture products and/or related parts in a manufacturing setting at a standard rate of work based upon customer demand and lean manufacturing principles to satisfy the customer and to provide high quality products delivered in a timely manner. Problem solves with the assistance of other team members and seeks continuous improvement activities. The position follows standard work methods and practices safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible. Required to learn additional functions through cross-training in other departments.
Essential Functions
- Perform hands-on production tasks related to furniture/component production in accordance with established work instructions and quality standards.
- Read, interpret, and follow written and verbal production instructions, work orders, and technical documentation.
- Operate basic production tools and equipment safely and efficiently; inspect equipment prior to use and report any safety, quality, or mechanical concerns to the supervisor.
- Inspect furniture components and finished surfaces to ensure proper application, appearance, and adherence to quality requirements.
- Accurately complete required production, quality, and inventory documentation to support manufacturing records and traceability.
- Rotate through multiple production workstations and demonstrate the ability to perform at least 75% of departmental technician functions at established cycle times.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with 5S standards and departmental safety guidelines.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement, teamwork, and problem-solving activities within the department and across departments as needed.
- Work overtime as required to support production schedules and customer demand.
- Maintain regular, reliable, and predictable attendance based on scheduled work hours.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support production goals and overall business objectives.

Education/Experience: One of the following is required: (1) High school diploma or its equivalent (GED for example), (2) work experience which demonstrates performance competency.
Skills And Abilities: Competent in basic math skills such as counting, adding, and subtracting. Ability to work cooperatively within the team as well as with members of other teams to meet goals. Demonstrated willingness to adapt to a continually changing environment.
Physical Demands
- Required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms for the duration of the shift.
- Ability to regularly lift and move up to 10 lbs, frequently lift and move up to 25 lbs, and occasionally lift and move up to 40 lbs.
- Required to communicate and to be able to see with or without correction.
