Furnace Technician - 2nd Shift

The Furnace Technician operates a brazing furnace used to braze metal components for heat transfer units at Boyd Thermal by Eaton’s Niagara Falls, NY location. This is a 2nd shift position (3pm-11pm) with a base salary starting at $25-$28/hr plus a $2/hr shift differential. Additional details about pay and benefits can be found in the Benefits section.

About the Role

Boyd Thermal by Eaton specializes in crafting precise thermal solutions for aerospace and defense customers. The Production Associate is responsible for various tasks including operating the brazing furnace, preparing units, inspecting products, and maintaining a clean work environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate a brazing oven to create strong, leak-proof joints in heat transfer units.
• Read and interpret blueprints and job orders to determine product specifications.
• Inspect, measure, and adjust components before placing them in the braze oven.
• Accurately complete oven logs and ensure proper oven program and thermocouples are used.
• Square, flatten, and measure units after brazing is completed.
• Inspect and record quality requirements of finished units.
• Move finished units to designated locations with appropriate identification paperwork.
• Use all safety devices and tools to ensure safe operation.
• Keep work areas clean and organized.
• Support team development by sharing best practices and assisting in the training of coworkers as needed.

Qualifications

• Basic math calculations (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence.
• Mechanically inclined with strong attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
• Ability to be cross-trained throughout the manufacturing facility.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Prior related work experience (1+ years).
• Ability to use micrometers, calipers, and other measuring tools.
• Ability to read and work to set tolerances and work from blueprints.
• Ability to set up and operate braze furnaces.
