Furnace Operator (1:30m to 10:00pm)
About the role
Furnace Operators regulate furnace temperatures and charge mixtures of gates, scrap, and ingot. They add necessary fluxes and master alloys, degas metal as needed, test for gas presence, remove molten metal, record data, and pour metal into molds.
Responsibilities
- Regulate furnace temperature
- Add necessary fluxes and master alloys
- Degas metal as required
- Test for presence of gas in molten metal
- Remove slag from molten metal
- Transport ladles of metal to proper molding line
- Pour metal into molds at the proper height and rate
Requirements
- Must have math and computer skills
- Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions in English
- Holds a High School diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a foundry
Qualifications
- Physical Demands: Heavy Physical Demand Level (PDL)
- Lifting: 100 lbs. occasionally, 75 lbs. occasionally, 50 lbs. occasionally, 75 lbs. up to 25 feet occasionally
- Postural Demands: Standing frequent to continuous, walking occasional to frequent, bending/stooping occasional, squatting/kneeling occasional

Pay
The pay range starts at $20 per hour. Pay is based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications.
