About the role

The Pueblo, CO facility has an immediate opening for a Furnace Deck Operator I. Furnace Deck Operator I is an entry level operator that will become proficient with basic operations of the furnace process by focusing on furnace preparation, load building, furnace reading, rounds, and process flow. Ongoing training is provided for process control and thorough understanding of auxiliary equipment. The training is geared towards advancement into the Operator II position.

Responsibilities

  • Provide process integrity and maintain process quality for all furnace process operations.
  • Perform all engineering instruction for all department processes including carbonization, densification and heat-treating processes.
  • Following established environmental, health and safety standards and procedures while performing daily duties.
  • Is constantly aware of, and looks for, ways to eliminate safety hazards and improve the overall safety of the workplace.
  • Demonstrate understanding and implementation of BBS (Behavior Based Safety).
  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing tools such as KAS, 5S, TPM and other continuous process improvement tools.
  • Monitor metrics in the work area. Take appropriate and timely action when metrics indicate downward trends or fall below acceptable limits.

Requirements

  • Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D. in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline.
  • Experience using hand tools.
  • Past work experience or demonstration of mechanical aptitude.
  • Prior experience working in manufacturing environment desired.
  • Ability to operate all department equipment including but not limited to: overhead cranes, pneumatic devices, vacuum equipment, fork trucks, hand trucks, optical pyrometers and hand tools.
  • Ability to problem solve and exercise creativity to develop and/or implement practical solutions.
  • Mechanical aptitude desired.
  • A basic understanding of mathematics and PC skills.
  • Ability to work a 4-day/12-hr shift, days and nights required.

Compensation

Compensation starts at $20 per hour with a shift differential of +$2.75 per hour. Total annual compensation starting at $50,000 per year.

Schedule

Rotating Shift Structure: 4-on/4-off schedule, Rotating day/night shift every 2 months, 12-hour shifts: 7:00AM - 7:00PM / 7:00PM – 7:00AM.
