About the role
The Funeral Home Manager is critical to the success of this operation through flawless execution standards combined with a thorough understanding of our unique demographics and clientele. The successful candidate will direct and lead all personnel, ensure the facility and equipment are maintained to a high degree of readiness, and foster a positive environment that motivates employees to strive for performance excellence.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, direct, and supervise the general activities of the funeral home.
- Direct all activities relating to funeral services, including preparation of facilities, supervision of funeral directors, and performing as an arranger when required.
- Direct and supervise administrative and support services, such as embalming, repair and maintenance, approval of expenditures, and collection of receivables.
- Plan and implement strategies to increase the client base, including direct involvement in marketing strategies.
- Ensure close coordination with governmental agencies and service organizations (e.g., Social Security Administration, Veterans Administration, coroner’s office, churches, florists).
- Represent the company in follow-up services, including handling customer complaints, legal activity, and contract preparations.
- Administer work schedules for all personnel.
- Deal directly with vendors of funeral service supplies and support merchandise.
- Maintain knowledge of laws and policies relating to the funeral business.
- Perform embalming and other tasks assigned to the Funeral Director as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in the operations of a funeral home.
- Demonstrated leadership ability.
- Current funeral director and embalmer license or the ability to obtain a state license.
- Graduation from an accredited school of embalming or mortuary science.
- A degree in business management or a related field is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license.
