Job Responsibilities
- Arranges calls to deceased next of kin and obtains or confirms contact information.
- Schedules Arrangement appointments and emails confirmation.
- Performs removals or transfers according to company standards.
- Greets next of kin and escorts them to the meeting space.
- Facilitates Arrangements Conferences, discussing needs and desired outcomes.
- Promotes funeral, cemetery, and crematory services and merchandise.
- Transitions Arrangements Conferences to Funeral Services Counselor/Advisor.
- Presides as Master of Ceremonies for visitation, funeral, or graveside services.
- Visually inspects Services Arrangements against contractual arrangements and next of kin expectations.
- Interacts with the family to fulfill death care requests.
- Obtains leads for pre-need services.
- Planner event planning responsibilities including resource planning and ordering of music, flowers, or catering.
- Produces MeM products such as scanning photos, ordering memorabilia, creating electronic presentations, writing obituaries, and creating online memorials.
- Prepares event rooms, sets up chairs, tables, flowers, guest books, and decor.
- Cleans up after events, identifies property in need of repair, and courier/delivers family memorabilia to homes.
- Performs attendant duties such as parking lot attendant, driver, usher, pallbearer, or courier.
- Attends community or charity events to represent and promote the location or market.
Requirements
- Graduated from an accredited school or college of mortuary science.
- Current Funeral Director license within the practicing state.
- Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required to operate company owned vehicles.
Qualifications
- Industry experience is preferred.
- Positive attitude, drive to advance understanding of the industry, and high self-motivation.
- Professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Public speaking skills to influence and gain consensus.
- Proficient using databases in automated processes.
- Proficient in MS Office skills.
Skills
- Cognitive ability to reason, plan, identify problems, learn quickly, and apply learning to new situations.
- Process and results-oriented with motivation to keep projects moving ahead by removing obstacles and exploring alternatives.
- Manual dexterity required for paperwork, calculators, computers, and phones.
- Physical effort including pushing and pulling up to 150 pounds on flat and inclined flooring or ramps.
Work Conditions
- Environment - Work is both indoors and outdoors during all seasons and weather.
- Attire - Professional business attire required when in contact with families.
- Postures - Frequent continuous periods of sitting or standing up to 6 hours per day; frequently climbing stairs to access buildings.
- Physical Demands - Manual dexterity required, including paperwork, calculators, computers, and phone usage.
- Ability to push and pull up to 150 pounds on flat and inclined flooring or ramps.
