Job Responsibilities
- Takes first calls, talks with families, answers questions, provides initial details, and conducts transfers.
- Safeguards and prepares the deceased for funeral services, including verification of identification, obtaining authorization for embalming, and dressing, styling hair, and applying cosmetics.
- Conducts funeral and memorial ceremonies professionally and organizes the event according to company policies and procedures.
- Negotiates and manages funeral contracts, handles financial transactions, and ensures the delivery of special recognitions for veterans.
- Aids in the organization of funeral services by overseeing car parking, ushering, vehicle driving, and assisting at chapels, churches, and cemeteries.
- Ensures compliance with licensing and regulatory requirements and provides aftercare support.
- Shares referrals with Family Service Counselors and maintains accurate records and documentation.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of or enrollment in a dual degree training program at an accredited mortuary college or technical school specializing in funeral and mortuary science as required by state/province law.
- Minimum of 6 months experience in a funeral home, crematory, or cemetery.
- Current state/province issued driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
