About the role

The Fundraising Manager, Walk to End Alzheimer’s, plays a crucial role in the implementation of Walk to End Alzheimer’s, the world’s largest fundraiser for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research. In 2023, Walk to End Alzheimer’s was recognized as the second-largest peer-to-peer fundraising event in the United States and achieved the largest dollar growth of any program in the top 30.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate key community connections and engage community and corporate leaders to drive success and achieve revenue goals.
  • Build and empower sustainable volunteer committees in Silicon Valley.
  • Generate excitement and enthusiasm in the community, coach and inspire volunteers to implement and build on proven strategies and best practices that result in event growth year over year.
  • Manage the largest Walk to End Alzheimer’s event in the nation, generating revenue and participant growth.
  • Work with the Senior Director to identify members for Executive Leadership Committees and Chair/Vice-Chair positions.
  • Recruit, manage, and coach volunteers to effectively implement best and proven practices to achieve fundraising goals.
  • Manage or coach multiple volunteer-led mass-market events simultaneously that have resulted in revenue growth year over year.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years of proven experience in recruiting and mobilizing volunteers to achieve goals OR 3 - 5 years successful experience of meeting sales targets
  • Confident, goal-oriented, positive self-starter, able to work independently with limited supervision and collaboratively with internal and external partners
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and nurture corporate relationships and partnerships
  • Ability to manage large numbers of volunteers at different levels of expertise with diplomacy
  • Ability to work with diverse communities and demonstrate inclusion, coupled with the ability to work in a highly matrixed organization
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication and follow-through
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 60% within the assigned territory by car. Travel in this case, is considered time spent away from the office, in the community, to fulfill the job goals. While most such travel is same day, occasional overnight travel or air travel may be required; Must have valid driver’s license, access to reliable vehicle, good driving record and proof of automobile insurance
  • Ability and willingness to work some evenings and weekends as required for committee meetings, Walk and wraparound events
  • Ability to bend, stoop, lift and transport up to 25 lbs. of materials
  • Strong computer skills, proficient with Microsoft Office products and social media; experience with, or ability to rapidly learn Luminate/Convio software

Qualifications

  • Proven success at building sustainable corporate and community relationships that contribute to achieving event revenue goals, greater community participation and heightened brand awareness
  • Experience working with companies to expand existing initiatives/activities, and securing new five/six/seven figure corporate sponsorships, teams, participants, Champions, and volunteers, along with creating and managing vendor and cause marketing activation campaigns
  • Experience generating a positive return on investment and increased fundraising revenue with the goal of renewing and/or growing larger accounts and multi-year funding
  • Experience recruiting, managing, and coaching volunteers to effectively implement best and proven practices to achieve fundraising goals
  • Experience managing or managing multiple volunteer-led mass-market events simultaneously that have resulted in revenue growth year over year

Pay

The Alzheimer’s Association’s good faith expectation for the salary range for this role is between $75,000 to $85,000 annual salary. There is a performance-based incentive opportunity of up to $13,000, depending on portfolio size and achievement of quarterly goals.

Schedule

This position is full-time exempt, based on 37.5 hours per week minimum.
