Job Summary
About the role
This position assists in the daily transactions of all TCC programs with the objective of enhancing native culture, furthering education, and providing assistance for the essential needs programs. Focus is on furthering the abilities of member villages toward governing themselves with the ability to operate independently on a financial level.
Responsibilities
- Analyzes award balance sheets, expenditures, and revenue to assure compliance with GAAP and specific grant guidelines.
- Maintains cash flow, requesting drawdowns when appropriate.
- Updates program directors on status of their programs.
- Aids them with budget revisions and inquiries.
- Records, classifies, and summarizes financial transactions and events in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Applies a working knowledge of applicable rules and regulations when reviewing grant transactions.
- Initiates and processes journal entries into various accounts and reconciles sub-ledgers to the general ledger and resolves differences.
- Provides information to program managers and individuals or organizations outside of Tanana Chiefs Conference, explains accounting transactions; resolves accounting issues and discrepancies.
- Reviews all budgets and changes from program directors.
- Works with program directors for accuracy in budgets and expenditures.
- Reviews accountants balance sheets to verify accuracy and clearing of A/P, A/R in timely manner.
- Verifies that financial reports are sent to granting agencies on a timely basis.
- Fulfills policies and procedures manual for accounting department.
- Receives all grant funding documents.
- Maintains grant master file to assure organized documentation for auditor and agency reviews.
- Prepares financial reports for state, federal, and general funds.
- Mets various reporting deadlines.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or equivalent related experience.
- Advance knowledge in the use of financial software applications, databases, spreadsheets, and/or word processing.
