About the role

The Fund Accountant applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports. This role performs daily accounting functions for various local government investment pools (LGIP).

Responsibilities

  • Consistently demonstrates exceptional internal and external service with clients, along with the core values: Integrity, Commitment, and Performance.
  • Acts as a steward of compliance, coordinating with company staff to gather, analyze, summarize, and prepare recommendations and reports.
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting LGIP activity.
  • Communicates, recommends, and assists with enhancement and maintenance of procedures and related systems and reports.
  • Performs reconciliations, including cash, asset, and past due; researches and clears reconciling items.
  • Assists in the preparation of quarterly board reports, annual financial statements, and other reporting as assigned.
  • Conducts accounting activity required for processing funds and maintains accounting records in accordance with departmental procedures.
  • Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
  • Assists staff by answering questions related to accounts, procedures, and services.
  • Provides backup support to other staff.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university with a major in Accounting is required; additional coursework in accounting is preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft products.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and complete multiple tasks to meet strict daily deadlines.
  • Collaborative professional able to cultivate relationships in a professional and friendly manner.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to work at a computer for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 lbs.

Pay

The pay range for this role is $60,000 - $75,000 USD per year (Illinois).
