About the Role
The Associate Manager leads and manages a team or group, ensuring successful delivery of project deliverables by direct reports on time and with high quality. This role may also involve contributing as a senior-level team member, delivering own project assignments, and mentoring junior staff under the supervision of a Manager, Senior Manager, Associate Director, or Director.
Responsibilities
- Monitor performance through close interaction with project and functional leadership, ensuring accurate and complete project documentation and correspondence.
- Serve as a senior-level contributor on project teams, delivering high-quality and timely assignments, generating study-specific status reports, and attending project team meetings.
- Provide consultation, facilitate metrics collection, and develop action plans with management and project leadership to keep projects on time and within budget.
- Manage and oversee team activities, including staff resourcing, assignments, quality control, and efficiency of deliverables.
- Produce accurate resourcing plans, identify and assign appropriate resources, and monitor resource needs throughout the project.
- Act as a liaison with project teams, sponsors, and management regarding the performance of direct reports.
- Provide technical support to staff to ensure they have the required knowledge to fulfill their duties.
- Ensure direct reports meet departmental and project productivity and quality metrics through efficient execution and quality checks of deliverables.
- Recruit, retain, and develop a skilled and motivated team to meet and exceed client expectations.
- Manage and develop staff performance through training, mentoring, and allocation based on ability.
- Support staff in improving efficiency, prioritizing work, and enhancing performance based on client feedback, audit results, and QC measures.
- Participate in formal staff review processes, including performance and salary reviews.
- Support business development efforts, including client networking, public speaking, and contributing to project bids and client presentations.
- Coordinate client or account activities for the department or function where appropriate.
- Participate in or champion system and standards improvement activities for Parexel and the department.
- Maintain agreed levels of productivity, billability, and staff turnover.
- Complete routine administrative tasks (e.g., timesheets, training, travel expense claims) in a timely manner.
- Travel as needed.
- Maintain a positive, results-oriented work environment, fostering partnerships and teamwork through open and objective communication.
- Maintain working knowledge of and ensure compliance with ICH Guidelines, Good Clinical Practices, Regulatory Agency requirements, Parexel SOPs, and sponsor SOPs.
Requirements
- Substantial monitoring or data management experience, or equivalent experience in clinical research, with a strong understanding of the clinical trials environment.
- Educated to degree level in biological science, pharmacy, or other health-related discipline (preferred), or equivalent nursing qualification or relevant clinical experience.
- Competency in local language and written English; oral English competency is preferred.
- Developing ability to manage and motivate direct reports.
