Functional Consultant – MDM (Master Data Management)

About the role

The Techno-Functional MDM Specialist/Lead bridges manufacturing business units (Engineering, Supply Chain, Production) and IT, applying practical design and manufacturing domain knowledge to define, implement, and maintain master data solutions for complex automotive manufacturing lifecycles.

Responsibilities

• Perform functional data governance (e.g., Bill of Materials and Parts compliance).
• Translate business needs into MDM requirements for Material/Parts Master, Vendor/Supplier Master, Bill of Materials (BOM), Equipment/Plant Master, and EDI.
• Lead workshops with manufacturing stakeholders to map operational data needs into functional specifications.
• Standardize, cleanse, validate, and govern master data across systems.
• Define MDM data models, workflows, approval processes, and business rules to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and usability.
• Support implementation and integration of MDM solutions with ERP and other manufacturing and financial applications.

Requirements

• 10 to 15+ years of experience in Data Management.
• At least 5+ years specifically within an automotive or discrete manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Supply Chain Management.

Skills

• SQL.
• Knowledge of ERP data structures (preferably SAP MM/PP modules).
• Enterprise data warehousing experience.
