Full-Time Tenure Track Faculty - Math
About the role
Kennedy King College is seeking a Full-Time Tenure Track Faculty to teach Mathematics. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching and learning, and be committed to the college's mission.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design courses to meet learning outcomes and promote students' active participation in their own learning.
- Create an effective learning environment that fosters students' intellectual curiosity and helps them problem solve using discipline-specific thinking strategies.
- Employ a variety of formative and summative assessments to ensure that classroom instruction leads to student learning and the attainment of the student learning outcomes for the course.
- Help students reach their academic, personal and career goals and foster a safe environment that respects the diversity of people and ideas by modeling respect for all students and conveying confidence in every student’s ability to learn.
- Contribute to and provide leadership in the student’s academic and professional communities and promote collaboration and teamwork among members of these communities.
- Provide instruction during scheduled class time.
- Prepare, deliver, and facilitate class lectures and discussions to students on topics related to course objectives and student learning outcomes.
- Prepare course materials, including course syllabi; evaluate student work/performance; log student participation (i.e., attendance); and develop assessment instruments to measure student learning and other resources necessary to support classroom instruction, etc.
- Compile, administer, and grade examinations; evaluate and grade students' class work, assignments, and papers.
- Hold office hours for student conferences and other instructional support needs.
- Participate in various department and/or college-wide activities or committees.
- Complete all mandatory midterm/final grading and active pursuit certifications required by the college.
Qualifications
- A Master’s Degree in Mathematics, Physics, or Math Education.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate with diverse groups of staff and students.
- Experience with a diverse, multi-lingual student population is desired, as is a commitment to the open access mission of the community college.
- Knowledge of industry/content knowledge.
- Able to create instructional design/curriculum plans (i.e., syllabi design, lecture materials, assessments, etc.).
- Student engagement strategy and techniques (i.e., class participation, differentiated instruction focused on various learning styles, diverse student needs, etc.).
- Knowledge of instructional technology such as Brightspace or other learning management platforms preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
- Familiar with SMART Board Technology and other presentation aides.

Salary range: $58,000 - $65,000 Offered salary will be determined by the respective collective bargaining agreement and applicant's education.
