The Tennis Professional, under the direction of the Director of Tennis, is responsible for all assigned tennis activities and achieving personal revenue goals each month while delivering exceptional customer service and hospitality to members and guests.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and teach tennis clinics, private lessons, and adult/junior/senior programs as assigned.
  • Organize and maintain a daily teaching schedule, including private and group lessons.
  • Achieve personal revenue goals.
  • Provide new member tennis orientations, evaluations, and facility introductions.
  • Notify and encourage members to participate in the Club's tennis events.
  • Attend Tennis Department staff meetings and General Staff Meetings or Associate Orientations as directed.
  • Be available for posted Tennis Clinics or other job functions in emergency situations, schedule permitting.
  • Represent the club professionally through image, dress, communication, and immediate follow-through.
  • Maintain punctuality for all scheduled appointments.
  • Keep accurate, current records of client exercise programs and progress.
  • Track client sessions and fee payments.
  • Enforce all tennis department and club policies.
  • Assist in the maintenance and cleanliness of the tennis area, ensuring a safe environment.
  • Maintain your teaching court in a professional manner.
  • Accurately record daily work hours, actual time worked, and client sessions in the tracking system.
  • Assist with special club projects, events, and promotions.

Requirements

  • Current Tennis Professional certification from either the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) or United States Professional Tennis Registry (USPTR).
  • Minimum two (2) years of professional experience, including college and/or elite professional competition.
  • Current CPR/AED certification.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an excellent customer service attitude.
  • Well-organized and detail-oriented.

Skills

  • Sales and Marketing: Knowledge of principles and methods for promoting and selling services, including marketing strategy and sales techniques.
  • Problem Anticipation/Deductive Reasoning: Ability to identify potential issues and apply logic to solve problems, evaluating alternative solutions.
  • Written and Oral Comprehension/Expression: Ability to read, understand, and communicate information effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Computer Proficiency: Ability to develop and maintain records using Word, Excel, and other required software. Ability to create tracking and report forms.

Working Conditions

  • Frequent changes in work location from indoors to outdoors, including exposure to varying and occasionally extreme (hot) weather conditions.
  • Ability to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and be punctual for all scheduled shifts.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changes in the work environment.
  • Regular public contact, including dealing with outside personnel such as clients in person, by phone, and email.
  • Ability to handle unpleasant or angry individuals and problem-solve difficult situations.
  • Frequent use of hands to finger, handle, or feel; reaching with hands and arms.
  • Frequent walking, stooping, kneeling, climbing, balancing, and stretching.
  • Occasional need to walk around the facility, talk, and hear.
  • Ability to regularly play competitive tennis matches or practice hitting/playing sessions.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Pay

Estimated Base Pay Range: $25.00 - $45.00 per hour.
