Full Time Teller

About the Role

Perform transactional duties to serve members by receiving or paying out funds with the highest accuracy, maintain accurate transactional records, provide cash receipt, account, and payment services in accordance with credit union policies and procedures, and cross‑sell and promote credit union products and services.

Responsibilities

• Deliver member service that exceeds credit union and department standards; greet and welcome members courteously and professionally.
• Provide account services: receive deposits and loan payments, cash checks, process withdrawals, verify signatures and balances, record night and mail deposits, sell cashier’s checks and money orders.
• Verify amounts, examine share drafts/checks for proper endorsement, and ensure accuracy when entering deposits into computer records.
• Cash share drafts/checks, process withdrawals, and redeem savings bonds.
• Accept check copy requests and check order requests from members.
• Process member requests such as wire transfers, address changes, stop payments, and cash advances.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of all credit union products and services handled or promoted by tellers.
• Promote electronic services, debit and credit cards, money orders, and safe‑deposit boxes.
• Cross‑sell products by answering inquiries, informing customers of new services and promotions, assessing member needs, and directing members to branch representatives.
• Balance cash drawer at shift end, compare totals to computer‑generated balance sheet, research and resolve discrepancies, and report discrepancies to the supervisor.
• Scan daily work, perform other teller functions as needed, and assist others with tasks and assignments.
• Ensure teller station is stocked with forms, supplies, brochures, etc.
• Serve in a dual‑control role when needed.
• Maintain accurate data entry for member records, maintenance, and transactions; locate and correct errors.
• Adhere to security, internal control procedures, policies, mandatory training, compliance, product, and credit union training.
• Maintain knowledge of policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and robbery procedures.
• Follow regulatory compliance requirements including BSA, AML, OFAC, CIP, and MDD as they relate to job functions.
• Complete BSA/AML compliance training annually.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Education: High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience: Communication, mathematical and general business knowledge or equivalent; six (6) months of cash handling or cross‑selling experience preferred.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to manipulate wrist/hand, remain at workstation for extended periods, lift up to 50 lb, bend, stoop, reach overhead, stand for extended periods, and maintain close vision for computer monitor and documents.
• Communication Abilities: Clear speech and hearing for effective staff/member interaction.
• Mental Requirements: Ability to work independently or with limited supervision, follow written and oral instructions, communicate clearly, handle diverse personalities, maintain composure under stress, manage multiple changing priorities, and exercise discretion with confidential matters.
• Equipment Requirements: Use of calculator, copy machine, currency counter, cash dispenser, cash‑advance terminal, ITM/ATM, and personal computer with Windows environment.
• Relationships: Reports to Branch Manager or Teller Manager; frequent face‑to‑face or telephone contact with members and occasional contact with other departments.
