Full-Time Teller

About the Role

As a Teller at KeyBank, you will serve as a problem solver, trusted advisor, and partner to clients in our communities. You will provide excellent in-person client service, assist with account transactions and servicing needs, identify and resolve client issues, and uncover financial wellness opportunities through client conversations. You will transition clients to bankers for deeper financial wellness discussions and help them achieve their financial goals using KeyBank’s tools.

Responsibilities

• Embody a strong client experience culture by being present and impactful in every interaction.
• Perform accurate and efficient teller functions in a branch setting, including cash handling and balancing.
• Proactively identify and resolve client servicing issues, escalating as needed.
• Listen for financial wellness opportunities during client conversations and transition clients to a Banker.
• Assist clients in achieving financial goals using financial wellness tools.
• Attend and participate in morning huddles and end-of-day debriefs.
• Follow compliance, audit, and security procedures, including balancing cash drawers.
• Stay current on product guides, fees, and policies.
• Work Saturdays as directed by management.
• Perform other duties as assigned, with potential changes to responsibilities.
• Comply with KeyBank policies, including professional conduct, ethical behavior, and acting in clients’ best interests.

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent business experience (required).
• Experience in a client service role (required).
• Experience in cash handling (required).
• General understanding of PC with Windows-based applications and calculator (required).
• Notary License (preferred).
• Ability to occasionally operate a motor vehicle with a valid driver’s license.

Skills

• Knowledgeable about client accounts and business with the bank; uses sound judgment in transactions.
• Strong sales and service skills, including educating clients on access channels (ATM, Online, Telephone Banking).
• Strong work ethic and high level of integrity.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Ability to manage and maintain client accounts accurately and securely.
• Skill in educating clients on financial wellness, including budgeting, saving, and planning.
• Proficiency in processing cash transactions (deposits, withdrawals) and balancing cash drawers.
• Attention to detail and organized record-keeping.
• Ability to identify and resolve client servicing issues efficiently.
• Understanding of banking regulations and security procedures.
• Ability to identify financial needs and promote relevant banking products and services.
• Awareness of fraud detection and prevention techniques.
• Collaborative teamwork to ensure smooth operations.

Physical Demands

• Prolonged standing (5-8 hours per day).
• Frequent use of hands to manipulate/grasp objects.
• Ability to communicate face-to-face and on the phone with clients.
• Occasional bending and lifting from floor height.
• Frequent forward reach.
• Frequent lifting of 1–10 lbs.; occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.

Pay

This position offers a base hourly rate in the range of $18.00 - $23.08 per hour. Placement within the range may vary based on skills, experience, and geographic location. Compensation also includes incentive opportunities such as production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives.
