About the role
The Security Supervisor oversees and coordinates security-related risk management plans, developing, implementing, and administering the day-to-day delivery of all security programs for Riverside Health Care. This role ensures a safe and secure environment for patients, residents, clients, staff, and visitors, advocating for optimal security practices through effective administration, operations, business practices, and risk assessments. The Security Supervisor also manages security guards at any Riverside Health Care location.
Responsibilities
- Oversee security service standards, policies, and procedures.
- Review security reports and correct noted problems.
- Ensure timely handling of all special incident reports.
- Maintain relationships with local law enforcement as required.
- Conduct daily site inspections and investigate security concerns internally and externally.
- Develop, maintain, and review Security protocols annually.
- Plan and deliver education and training to all security staff.
- Monitor audio and video surveillance equipment, BMS Door system, and card swipe system for employee access; report misconduct or non-compliance.
- Coordinate with management to plan and provide specialized security functions.
- Conduct investigations, compile evidence, and provide reports for staff misconduct or policy breaches as requested by Human Resources.
- Oversee all security and surveillance issues.
- Maintain the administration of security programs.
- Review detailed reports and investigation information for senior management.
- Maintain confidentiality of investigations, surveillance, and decision-making processes.
- Work with maintenance to resolve key and lock issues promptly.
- Oversee parking surveillance and monitoring.
- Manage the department budget and monitor expenditures.
- Advise the Senior Team of critical situations.
- Assist in setting and enforcing facility standards.
- Participate in developing and evaluating standards of practice/program services within the department.
- Promote and ensure health and safety of self and others by practicing safe work habits and reporting unsafe conditions.
- Understand and fulfill role in ensuring patient safety.
- Demonstrate commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
- Provide timely feedback to employees, coworkers, and senior management.

Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in criminology, criminal law, and/or Security administration preferred.
- Current valid ministry-approved Security Guard license required or commitment to complete the licensing program as part of employment.
- Minimum two to five years of experience in security or a related field.
- Highly motivated team player with the ability to work in a challenging environment.
- Knowledge of security practices and related legislation in Ontario.
- Highly organized with solid problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Strong computer skills, including database experience and proficiency in MS Word, Email, and Excel.

- Good health and ability to attend work regularly and consistently.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; close vision abilities required.

Schedule
This is a full-time position with a rotating schedule. The incumbent may be required to work evenings, weekends, and be on call.
