Job Purpose

The Groomer's primary responsibility is to operate a grooming machine to prepare the ski area snow for skiing and snowboarding. Additional duties include performing grooming machinery inspections and maintaining the equipment in working order. The Groomer also provides excellent customer service and assists with snow removal tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service to customers, employees, and business partners.
• Operate tracked grooming equipment on ski trails to create optimal skiing surfaces.
• Perform routine inspections of grooming machinery before and after operations.
• Maintain grooming machinery in safe and proper working order through regular checks.
• Document and report the condition of grooming machinery to the manager.
• Operate grooming machinery and perform duties in extreme weather conditions, including evenings and mornings.
• Assist with snow removal tasks such as shoveling and clearing walkways, paths, and equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs (for raking, shoveling, and lifting large metal objects).
• Able to work outdoors in adverse winter weather conditions for up to 10 hours per day.
• Fluent in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
• Able to direct guests and ensure safety.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn and develop.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Able to work weekends, nights, and holidays.
• Able to lift up to 70 lbs.

Physical and Mental Demands

• Regularly stand, walk, use hands, and reach.
• Sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
• Use close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
• Adjust focus and hear noise levels in the work environment.
• Work near moving mechanical parts and exposed to outdoor weather conditions and vibration.
