About the role

As a Sales Specialist, you will be one of the first people customers meet. You will help customers find the products they need, encourage them to transform project ideas into reality, and provide consulting services to ensure customer needs are met before they leave the store. You will work in one of several departments (Appliances, Cabinets, Flooring, Live Nursery, Millwork, Fashion Plumbing, Outlet, Tool Rental, Pro, or Windows & Walls) and spend most of your time communicating with customers—discussing project needs, answering questions, and helping them accomplish home‑improvement goals.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide SMART customer service by seeking out customers, understanding their needs, answering questions, and communicating the advantages of Lowe’s products and services.
  • Serve as a point of contact for customers and vendors within your department, providing project estimates, scheduling installer visits, processing and tracking customer orders/installations, and following up to ensure project completion.
  • If in the Pro Department, focus on external accounts and outside sales and services.
  • Monitor inventory levels to support sales, working with vendors and other stores to locate merchandise and order replacement stock.
  • Perform price reviews according to pricing policies and maintain pricing documentation.
  • Support all checkout functions, call buttons, departmental pages, or assistance requests.
  • Train associates on the sales floor through on‑the‑job training and coaching.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1 year experience in customer‑facing sales or 6 months of Lowe’s retail experience (or 3 years external sales experience or 18 months Lowe’s retail experience if education requirement is not met).
  • 1 year experience in sales or customer service in a sales environment with required sales goals or metrics.
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic (addition and subtraction).
  • Ability to stand and sit for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to lift 25 lb unassisted or lift over 25 lb with or without accommodation.
  • Obtain sales‑related licensure or registration if required by state law (Lowe’s will support and fund this requirement).

Preferred qualifications

  • 1 year experience completing customer sales orders.
  • 1 year experience promoting product‑related services and plans such as installation, delivery, credit financing, or extended protection plans.
  • 2 years experience designing customized products using 20/20 or computer‑aided design systems.
  • Professional certification related to the department being considered.
  • Bi‑lingual skills.

Pay

Pay range: $16.50 – $17.20 per hour. Starting rate may vary based on position, location, education, training, and experience.

Travel requirements

This role does not require regular travel; occasional travel may be needed for meetings, training, or to support neighboring stores.

Working conditions

Work environments vary by location and may include both indoor and outdoor settings, exposure to extreme temperatures, humidity, wind, noise, and moving or shaking equipment. Lifting limits are generally 75 lb for single lifts; team lifts are used for heavier items. Powered equipment may be used with proper training.
