About the role
Under general supervision, the Psychiatric Nurse assesses client health problems and needs, develops and implements nursing care plans, and maintains accurate medical records.
Responsibilities
- Performs walk-in assessments at the crisis service center and documents findings in compliance with guidelines.
- Communicates effectively with psychiatric staff regarding patient behavior and treatment updates.
- Ensures safety by monitoring individuals, visitors, and staff, and educates staff on contraband risks and reporting procedures.
- Maintains and verifies equipment and supplies, including medication dispensing systems.
- Completes waived testing, laboratory procedures such as urine drug screens, urinalysis, and phlebotomy.
- Provides education on health maintenance and disease prevention.
- May offer case management services.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in nursing or an Associate degree with a current Georgia RN license.
- Relevant professional experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to perform comprehensive health assessments in a team-oriented environment.
