Purpose Of Position
The Program Support Specialist provides administrative oversight, coordination, and programmatic support to ensure that special education classrooms and programs within the IU are operating effectively, compliantly, and in alignment with applicable federal and Pennsylvania special education requirements.
Responsibilities
- Reviews program structures, systems, and procedures
- Makes sure special education classrooms and programs operate effectively and comply with federal and Pennsylvania special education requirements
- Makes sure special education classrooms and programs are aligned with applicable federal and Pennsylvania special education requirements
- Makes sure special education classrooms and programs are operating consistently and improving continuously
- Supports administrators by making sure special education classrooms and programs are operating effectively, compliantly, and in alignment with applicable federal and Pennsylvania special education requirements
Requirements
- Master's degree in Special Education, Educational Administration, or a related field required
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in special education as a licensed or certified educator, administrator, or supervisor
- Demonstrated experience with special education program knowledge, compliance, and systems-level support
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of IDEA, Pennsylvania Chapter 14 regulations, and special education compliance requirements
- Ability to analyze program data and identify strengths and areas for improvement
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, and support staff
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work across school buildings
Skills
- Strong knowledge of IDEA, Pennsylvania Chapter 14 regulations, and special education compliance requirements
