Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with personal cares, which may include dressing, grooming, oral cares, toileting, management of incontinence products, showering, shampooing hair, applying lotions, fingernail/toenail care, foot cares (if instructed), medication administration, redirection of confused residents, and other assigned cares.
  • Assist in the use of hearing aids, glasses, walkers, wheelchairs, and other assistive devices.
  • Assist with treatments as delegated by the RN.
  • Administer or assist with medications as delegated by the RN.
  • Assist with meal preparation as directed, following special meal plans.
  • Lead resident activities as scheduled and assigned.
  • Take and record temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration as instructed. Report changes or concerns to the RN.
  • Observe residents and report changes in physical and emotional condition, such as attitude, appetite, or weight.
  • Follow the cleaning schedule per shift to maintain a clean and safe environment for residents.
  • Recognize safety responsibilities for residents and report occupational hazards or incidents of injury.
  • Complete maintenance service request slips for equipment in need of repairs.
  • Apply principles of good body mechanics when lifting and moving objects.
  • Use transfer techniques consistent with proper body mechanics.
  • Follow proper procedures and participate in disaster planning drills (fire, tornado, severe weather, etc.) when on duty.
  • Practice fire safety and accident prevention procedures.
  • Maintain a calm manner in tense situations.
  • Attend in-service training and staff meetings as assigned.
  • Develop knowledge of actions to be implemented in emergency situations.
  • Follow Standard Precautions and infection control procedures.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures governing the operation of Glenwood Village Care Center and Parkview Court Assisted Living.
  • Attend home care orientation and receive instruction regarding department duties.
  • Understand the use of the department procedure manual.
  • Understand and adhere to the Vulnerable Adult Abuse Prevention Policy.
  • Adhere to HIPAA privacy rules and regulations.
  • Uphold residents’ rights at all times.
  • Demonstrate dependable professional work habits and adhere to requirements in the personnel policy manual.
  • Handle work-related situations regarding staff with confidentiality.
  • Come to work on time and when scheduled, and report absences according to policy.
  • Maintain good personal hygiene and grooming, and come to work neat and clean.

Pay

Starting pay: $19.61 - $21.00 per hour (based on experience). Sign-on bonus: $1,500 paid over 1 year.

Schedule

  • 8 shifts per pay period (64 hours total).
  • Hours: 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM.
  • Includes every other weekend and holiday rotation.
