Experience And Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associate's Degree preferred - Must have at least 45 College Credits or pass the Master Teacher Test
- Minimum of five (5) years successful experience as a Special Education Paraprofessional
- Knowledge of Special Education programs, such as VB-MAPP, classroom supports, behavior management techniques and instructional strategies
- Strong communication, interpersonal coaching and problem-solving skills
- Ability to provide training and support to adults in educational settings
- Act 34 Clearance, Act 151 Clearance, FBI Clearance (all self-paid)
- Drug screening (self-paid)
- Act 126 and Act 71 training certificates
- Bloodborne Pathogens Certificate
Position Summary
The Paraprofessional Coach serves as a professional mentor, trainer and support resource for Paraprofessionals throughout the District's Special Education programs. The position supports instructional practices, behavior supports, VB-MAPP implementation and Medical Assistance (MA)/School-Based ACCESS Program (SBAP) documentation and compliance.Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide coaching, mentoring and support to Paraprofessionals working in all Special Education programs.
- Support Paraprofessionals in Autistic Support, Emotional Support, Life Skills, Learning Support, Multiple Disabilities Support and inclusive settings.
- Support the implementation of the VB-MAPP assessment and instructional framework.
- Model professional and effective instructional and behavioral support strategies.
- Conduct observations and provide constructive feedback to Paraprofessionals.
- Develop and facilitate professional development opportunities for Paraprofessionals.
- Participate in the interview process for Paraprofessional candidates.
- Support onboarding and orientation of newly-hired Paraprofessionals.
- Provide training and ongoing support regarding Medical Assistance (MA) and School-Based ACCESS Program (SBAP) requirements.
- Aid Paraprofessionals in understanding billable services, documentation requirements and reimbursement procedures.
- Support Paraprofessionals in accurately documenting student supports and services that may be eligible for reimbursement.
- Provide coaching regarding service logs, data collection and compliance documentation.
- Collaborate with the Special Education / MA Coordinator regarding ACCESS compliance and documentation practices.
- Support District efforts to improve documentation quality and reimbursement opportunities.
- Aid in the implementation of District Medicaid documentation, service verification and compliance procedures.
- Develop training materials, reference guides and procedure documents.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
