About the role

Comstock’s ParkX Porter team keeps mixed-use and commercial properties in Reston running the way tenants and visitors expect: common areas clean, lobbies presentable, and problems flagged before they become complaints. This position works Monday through Friday, 7 AM to 3:30 PM, which means a consistent daytime schedule with visibility across the full property day.

Skills this role puts to work daily

• Attention to detail: noticing spills at lobby entrances, cluttered janitorial closets, or missed pressure-washing areas carries more weight than raw speed.
• Professionalism with people: interacting with tenants, visitors, and property staff throughout the shift sets the property’s service standard.
• Time management: following structured cleaning schedules and checklists with self-direction; tracking progress, documenting tasks, and handing off cleanly at shift end.

What the work actually looks like

• Maintaining cleanliness across common areas including lobbies, restrooms, sidewalks, and public spaces throughout the shift.
• Pressure washing assigned exterior areas as directed by management.
• Supporting event setup and breakdown, including preparation and cleanup before and after meetings or public gatherings.
• Monitoring cleaning supply inventory and using chemicals safely and correctly.
• Reporting safety hazards, maintenance issues, or equipment damage to management promptly.
• Completing required end-of-shift documentation and ensuring accurate shift handoffs.
• Covering for teammates during absences when needed, including occasional weekend or off-hours availability during high-traffic events.
• Keeping the janitorial room and storage areas organized and hazard-free at all times.

The physical demands are real: extended time on your feet, lifting up to 50 pounds, working in variable outdoor and indoor conditions, and exposure to cleaning chemicals and biological hazards are all part of the job. Candidates should be comfortable with that reality before applying.
