About the role

The Department of Teaching and Learning within the Boston University Wheelock College of Education and Human Development invites applications for up to two full-time Lecturer positions to start on August 1, 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in general education and social studies for both elementary education and social studies education students.
  • Help with placement coordination on both human development and social studies.
  • Provide field-based supervision of students in their clinical practicum placements in social studies.
  • Contribute to the intellectual life of the University through excellence in innovative scholarship, engaged teaching, and participation in the scholarly community.

Requirements

  • Doctorate degree, preferably focusing on Social Studies Education, Education and Human Development, or related field.
  • Minimum three years relevant teaching experience in K-12.
  • Relevant teaching experience in higher education.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and advising at the university level.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supervising teaching candidates in the field.
  • Experience identifying potential placement sites for students in Education and Human Development programs.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree, preferably focusing on Social Studies Education, Education and Human Development, or related field.
  • Minimum three years relevant teaching experience in K-12.
  • Relevant teaching experience in higher education.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and advising at the university level.

Benefits

Salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training and internal pay comparison.

Pay

The minimum salary for this position is $72,000.00 and the maximum salary is $86,000.00.

Schedule

The positions will start on August 1, 2026.
