About the role

Riverstone of Mankato Senior Living Community is seeking a Full-time Housekeeping Assistant to join their community operations team. Housekeeping Assistants play an integral role in maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily housekeeping functions and tasks as assigned, following established safety precautions and infection control procedures.
  • Ensure work/cleaning schedules are followed as closely as practical.
  • Coordinate daily housekeeping services with nursing services when performing routine cleaning in resident living and/or recreational areas.
  • Maintain assigned work areas in a clean, safe, comfortable, and attractive manner.
  • Dispose of personal protective equipment according to sanitation procedures.
  • Maintain an adequate supply of housekeeping supplies in utility/janitorial closets.
  • Assist others in lifting heavy equipment or supplies as needed.
  • Clean and polish furnishings, fixtures, ledges, and room heating/cooling units in resident rooms and recreational areas.
  • Clean, wash, sanitize, and/or polish bathroom fixtures, removing water marks.
  • Clean windows and mirrors in resident rooms, recreational areas, bathrooms, and entrance/exit ways.
  • Clean floors by sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, disinfecting, etc., using appropriate caution/safety signs.
  • Vacuum carpets and clean walls/ceilings by washing, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting, and deodorizing.
  • Remove dirt, dust, grease, and film from surfaces using proper cleaning/disinfecting solutions.
  • Clean hallways, stairways, elevators, and vacant rooms.
  • Ensure work areas are clean and equipment/tools/supplies are properly stored at all times, including before breaks, mealtimes, and end of the workday.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to make independent decisions and follow instructions.
  • Tactful communication with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the public.
  • Capable of working with ill, disabled, elderly, and emotionally upset individuals.
  • Effective communication with supervisors, team members, residents, and families.
  • Knowledge/proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must meet all applicable state and federal requirements for the position.
  • Tasks may involve exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, air contaminants, and hazardous chemicals.

Skills

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times.
  • Ability to alternate between standing and sitting.

Pay

$20–$24/hour.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM.
