Full Time Host/Hostess - Between The Trees

About the Role

As a Host at the Grand Bohemian Lodge in Greenville, SC, you will ensure the prompt recognition and seating of all guests in assigned outlets. You will assist servers in providing attentive, courteous, and efficient service throughout the guests' dining experience and help the cashier collect payments for all guest transactions.

Responsibilities

• Greet and seat guests at appropriate tables in a timely manner.
• Be attentive to guests’ needs and assist in providing a pleasant dining experience.
• Assist the cashier in collecting money or credit cards from guests and servers as needed.
• Prepare cashier reports at the end of the shift.
• Pay out servers’ and service attendants’ tips if appropriate.
• Take reservations for outlets.
• Ensure quality control of menus regarding cleanliness and appearance.
• Perform opening and closing duties according to the established sidework checklist.
• Understand standards of service for receiving room service orders.
• Have thorough knowledge of menus and current specials in all applicable departments.
• Assist servers and cashiers in servicing guests as needed.
• Know and understand state liquor laws.
• Ensure overall guest satisfaction.
• Maintain a friendly and warm demeanor at all times.
• Perform other duties as requested by management.

Qualifications

• High School diploma and/or experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
• Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
• Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
• Ability to stand during entire shift.
• Must effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
• Effective listening skills to understand and clarify concerns raised by employees and guests.
• Maintain regular attendance in compliance with hotel standards, as required by scheduling.
• Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing the proper uniform and nametag.
• Comply with hotel standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.
• Maximize efforts toward productivity, identify problem areas, and assist in implementing solutions.
• Effectively handle problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving them as necessary.
• Show initiative, including anticipating guest or operational needs.
