About the role
The Head Nurse oversees patient care, staff management, and daily operations of a nursing unit, ensuring safe, quality care aligned with hospital policies and mission. They provide clinical leadership, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and support continuous improvement in healthcare delivery.
Responsibilities
- Interpret and analyze diagnostic data relevant to patient conditions.
- Collaborate with leadership to identify and implement departmental improvements.
- Guide staff during life-threatening situations and evaluate intervention effectiveness.
- Implement innovative processes to enhance patient outcomes.
- Participate in clinical leadership activities such as coaching, hiring, performance evaluations, staffing, and productivity management.
- Engage in activities aimed at improving healthcare delivery and support lifelong learning.
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure quality patient care.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the current unit or similar setting.
- Computer literacy required; advanced skills preferred.
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- BLS certification within 14 days of hire required.
- ACLS preferred.
