Responsibilities
- Provides SMART customer service through daily execution of Lowe’s customer service policies, procedures, and programs.
- Seeks out customers to understand needs and assists in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and/or loading merchandise.
- Listens and responds knowledgeably to customer and employee questions by guiding them through store areas and projects.
- Communicates product information, including stock, special orders, features, benefits, applications, and warranty details related to Lowe’s programs.
- Coaches, develops, trains, and provides feedback to associates on departmental duties or sales opportunities (CSA Front End Team).
- Uses a cash register to process sales transactions, returns, and refunds according to company guidelines.
- Provides proper monetary change to CSA Front End associates for register activities.
- Removes security tags, verifies product information, and bags merchandise for customers.
- Assists in line management to reduce checkout wait times, including opening additional registers as needed.
- Prepares register area at the start and end of shifts by confirming functionality of registers/scanners and stocking supplies.
- Inspects returned merchandise for damages.
- Enters and submits customer orders, prints order tickets, verifies receipts, and signs off on loading tickets.
- Looks up product information and competitor prices to verify price matches.
- Records store-used items on store use lists.
- Completes cash counting and daily reconciliation duties as assigned.
- Monitors cash drawer and cash recycler levels to ensure they do not exceed limits.
- Monitors merchandise entering and leaving store entrances/exits; assists customers or associates who trigger alarms.
- Detects common signs of shoplifting, theft, and security risks, promptly reporting them to management or Asset Protection.
- Ensures compliance with housekeeping standards (e.g., Zone Recovery) to maintain cleanliness and organization.
- Maintains a safe and secure work environment, including daily safety reviews, hazard reporting, and securing doors/gates.
- Adheres to safety requirements, including top stock safety, reinstalling safety cables, using aisle blockers, tether lines, spotters, and safety devices.
- Operates store equipment as needed (e.g., Zebra phone, cash recycler, computers, CCTV, key cutter, panel saw, paint mixer, flooring cutters, compactor baler).
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED (or equivalent years of experience in lieu of education, if applicable).
- Less than 1 year of experience using a computer, including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information.
- Less than 1 year of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
- 1 year of retail experience as a cashier.
- Ability to obtain sales-related licensure or registration as required by law.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 year of experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs, including credit cards, installations, add-on sales, and explaining warranties/features.
- 1 year of experience as a head cashier.
- Less than 1 year of experience working in any department at a Lowe’s retail store.
- 1 year of supervisory experience in any field, including directing, delegating, evaluating, training, and coaching employees.
- Less than 1 year of retail experience detecting common signs of shoplifting (e.g., hidden merchandise, switched price labels).
Pay
$16.00 - $17.95 per hour. Starting rate may vary based on factors such as position, location, education, training, and experience.
