FULL TIME DAYS Behavioral Healthcare Assistant
Job Summary
Behavioral Health Assistants provide competency-based direct care to children, adolescents, and adults in our inpatient behavioral health units. They assist in providing a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment for our patients. These inpatient units offer crisis stabilization services and most patients are admitted involuntarily via the Baker Act, the mental health act of Florida. The typical length of stay is 3-5 days.
Responsibilities
- Maintains awareness of behaviors and documents observed behaviors in the patient record.
- Engages with patients to build supportive relationships, address concerns, and help achieve their goals.
- Assists patients with personal hygiene and ADLs, considering age, culture, and functional level.
- Adheres to the daily schedule to meet patients' needs and interests.
- Conducts safety checks at least every 15 minutes, following policies and procedures.
- Serves as a liaison during fresh air breaks and visitation periods.
- Keeps abreast of patients' admission/discharge statuses, privileges, restrictions, and treatment plans.
- Documents vital signs under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Paramedic (PMD) certification is preferred.
- One year of experience in direct patient care is preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills are essential.
Position Details
Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm (rotating weekends)
