Full-time Day Shift Custodian

Reports to: Manager of Custodial Services

About the Role

As a Heathwood Custodian, you will perform custodial duties, including dusting, mopping, vacuuming and shampooing carpets, cleaning and restocking restrooms and classrooms. The ideal candidate will be able to pivot through daily cleaning needs that occur throughout the school campus and be flexible to adjust responsibilities while maintaining consistency in the cleaning of the various buildings. Dependability, flexibility and consistency are requirements within the role as the school's custodial needs vary by day and school events.

Responsibilities

• Performs general cleaning to include dusting, mopping, vacuuming, restroom cleaning, and restocking of paper products and supplies.
• Performs routine maintenance and cleaning to custodial equipment.
• Empty trash receptacles, dispose trash and recycling into designated dumpsters/bins.
• Ensures doors are locked and secure after cleaning is completed.
• Performs work of job tickets as needed and properly closes out tickets when complete.
• Immediately reports needs or concerns to supervisor or manager.
• Assist in the event of an emergency or storm that requires immediate clean up.
• Assist with on the job training of new employees.
• Performs miscellaneous job related duties as assigned.
• Follows workplace safety, proper use of personal protective equipment, and workplace practices.
• Ability to respond to changing circumstance and daily needs with professionalism.

Requirements

• Follow written and verbal directions/communications.
• Ability to safely operate vacuum cleaners and various equipment.
• Ability to read, understand and follow safety procedures.
• Experience working with children of all ages.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Custodial work experience preferred.

Working Conditions

• Expansive school campus with 122+ acres; must be able to travel between buildings independently.
• Frequent walking, standing, stooping, and bending may be required throughout the day at various intervals.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Schedule

Full time, Monday–Friday, 6:00am–2:30pm
