About the role
Full-time, first shift position in Imaging with cross-training in CT. Operate radiologic equipment to produce radiographs of the body for diagnostic purposes as directed by radiologists.
Responsibilities
- Properly identify all patients prior to exam.
- Serve all patients referred to the department for radiologic examination.
- Position patient on examination table and adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician.
- Properly acquire images that comply with departmental standards of high quality.
- Explain procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.
- Move x-ray equipment into specified position and adjust equipment controls to set exposure factors based on knowledge of radiographic exposure techniques and protocol.
- Operate mobile x-ray equipment in operating room, emergency room, or at patients' bedside.
- Know and apply improvement process plans.
- Be reliable for "on call" status.
- Comply with and know charging process; make appropriate changes when necessary.
- Document and submit all pertinent clinical information to the Radiologist prior to the patient leaving the department.
- Follow all Department Routines for exams and document reasons for not following the routine views.
- Scan and document all medications and allergies in Meditech as required by policy.
- Knowledge of all special procedures in area.
- Exhibit a pleasant disposition and maintain a professional attitude in the workplace.
- Show willingness to cross-train and strive to continually improve or develop skills.
- Knowledge of PACS system; operate, make appropriate changes prior to sending to the Radiologist, and make CDs.
- Actively look for other duties to perform when patient volumes are down.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Must be willing to receive all required vaccinations (e.g., flu shot).
Requirements
- Satisfactory completion of a formal radiologic technology training program that is AMA approved and meets the requirements of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or its equivalent.
- At least one year of radiology experience is preferred, but less experienced applicants will be considered.
- Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) or registry eligible in the future. If registry eligible, must be a graduate.
- CPR certification.
