About the Role

To provide high-quality, patient-focused healthcare services to all patients within the scope of practice through physician orders in accordance with Texas State Laws and Regulations and company policies. This role involves performing radiologic and CT procedures, laboratory testing, and supporting facility operations.

Responsibilities

Radiology Duties

• Prepare patients for x-ray and CT scans, explain procedures, and set up the room, equipment, and materials.
• Position patients and arrange immobilization and support devices.
• Practice radiation protection techniques to limit exposure to patients and medical staff.
• Adjust equipment controls, determine proper voltage, and exposure time.
• Administer routine x-ray exams and observe patients and machines during procedures.
• Report unusual occurrences and record patient conditions; document procedures in patient charts.
• Clean and disinfect radiology rooms and equipment; maintain and order supplies.
• Perform radiology quality assurance tests and maintain records.
• Assist with front-end registration or additional clerical duties as necessary.
• Knowledge of specific and OSHA requirements regarding radiological procedures.

Laboratory Duties

• Learn and master immunoassay instrument procedures, including running calibrations, controls, reagents, detergents, sample testing, and consumables.
• Perform simple daily immunoassay machine maintenance.
• Complete training in laboratory equipment use and documentation to comply with OSHA and CLIA standards.
• Conduct patient interviews and document relevant information for lab paperwork.
• Decant urine specimens into sample tubes and complete immunoassay testing per protocols and SOPs.
• Perform laboratory testing on patient samples, including daily controls and intermittent calibrations.
• Execute corrective actions and routine maintenance of lab equipment as instructed.
• Prepare reports of machine assays for physician medical records.
• Contact equipment servicers, Lab Director, Clinical Consultant, or technical consultants for assistance as needed.
• Dispose of hazardous and non-hazardous waste per OSHA guidelines.
• Prepare lab billing sheets and supply the billing company with patient insurance information.
• Maintain inventory of consumables, office supplies, and necessary paperwork.
• Assist in lab operations as directed by the Nurse Manager, including inventory management, accounting, and marketing.
• Report any clinical, equipment, or business issues to the Nurse Manager immediately.

General Duties

• Provide patient care tasks such as taking vital signs and assisting with triage as delegated by the RN and physician.
• Support and assist the team with basic facility maintenance, including emptying trash, unpacking linens, and keeping the facility tidy.
• Work with patients of all ages.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology.
• Currently licensed as ARRT in the State of Texas with documented CT experience.
• Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
• Current Texas MRT License in good standing.
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS certification a plus.
• Ability to perform CT procedures without constant supervision.
• Ability to assist with specialized procedures involving sterile techniques.
• Continuing education hours required for license renewal according to state guidelines.
• Pass background check(s).
• At least 2 years of Radiology and CT experience preferred; freestanding Emergency Center experience a plus.
• Exceptional technical skills and ability to work in a high-pressure environment while maintaining excellent patient care and customer service.
• Effective team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with efficient time management skills; ability to anticipate workflow and perform synchronous tasks.
• Basic typing and computer proficiency, preferably experienced with Windows, Microsoft Office, EMR/EMP systems.
• Ability to accurately read and write medical terminology.

Physical Demands

• Lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
• Walking, standing, feeling, reaching, seeing, stooping, smelling, depth perception, and color vision.
• Ability to perform CPR and chest compressions.
• Ability to work with arms above the head for extended periods while moving and manipulating the x-ray tube.
• Handles multiple priorities, manages stress appropriately, and works independently with discretion.
• Works in close proximity to others or in distracting environments; makes decisions under pressure.
