About the role

We are looking for a compassionate Cook to join our assisted living family. Our residents need care around the clock, so this role features a dynamic, rotating mix of day and evening shifts rather than a fixed weekly routine. We truly care about our culinary team and know you have a life outside of work. While the days of the week vary, we can work with you to protect your personal time. With advanced notice, we will try to work around your planned days off, doctor appointments, or family events so you can recharge and bring your best self to our residents.

The primary responsibility of the Cook is to prepare food of the highest quality and taste for residents and guests of the Community, ensuring that the food presentation enhances the dining experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare delicious and attractive food that is colorful and tastefully presented, making each meal service an exceptional occasion.
  • Supervise the kitchen under the direction of the Culinary Director.
  • Prepare high-quality meals consistent with local customs and tastes.
  • Consistently adhere to standard recipes, budgeted costs, and Company policies.
  • Supervise and/or assist in the proper washing of all dishes, cookware, flatware, and utensils.
  • Properly maintain all kitchen equipment.
  • Monitor water temperatures and/or chemical compounds to ensure the prevention of foodborne illness and the spread of communicable disease.
  • Approach residents and associates in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be flexible/adaptable, pay attention to detail, and have a sense of teamwork.
  • Must possess good time management skills and a keen awareness of safety.
  • Must possess a current manager’s level food handler permit.
  • Must be able to pass our Criminal Background Screening.
  • The Community is a drug-free workplace; employees are subject to adherence to the Company Drug-Free Workplace policy.

Qualifications

  • Minimum one (1) year of related cooking experience or equivalent preferred.
  • Some software and computer skills preferred.

Benefits

  • Competitive pay
  • Medical, Vision & Dental coverage for full-time employees
  • 401(k) Retirement Plan
  • A positive workplace where teamwork and kindness matter
