Full Time Congregate Residential Counselor
About the role
The Home for Little Wanderers is an established child welfare agency that provides support and services to vulnerable children and their families. The Therapeutic After School Program (TASP) seeks a Full Time Residential Counselor to join its team.
Responsibilities
- Provide a safe and secure environment for clients
- Counsel, observe, and provide behavioral training, outreach support, advocacy, and treatment to children and their families
- Ensure individuals served are supported to lead emotionally and physically healthy lifestyles
- Plan and participate in activities with clients/students on an individual and small group level
- Teach age-appropriate life skills and social skills through modeling, counseling, and other techniques
- Communicate through written and verbal means with other program staff
- Complete assigned paperwork including time sheet, level card, goal/level tracking, incident reporting, and 51A’s in a thorough and timely manner
- Attend trainings and participate in supervision meetings
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year childcare experience in a residential setting with similar population of children
- Computer literate, including Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer, with the ability to learn new software applications
- Driving requirements may apply if required to transport clients
