About the role

The College of Health Professions invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track clinical faculty position to provide technical assistance and ongoing support for students across laboratories and clinical teaching. Responsibilities include 30 hours per week of direct instruction and clinical supervision, plus an additional 10 hours per week for student mentoring, assessment, community engagement, and curriculum continuity. Some evening and weekend hours are required. This is a 12-month, continuing position with an anticipated start date of August 2026. The selected candidate must reside in Michigan after hire and be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instruction and clinical supervision to students in the Pre-Licensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program by teaching assigned laboratory and clinical sections and facilitating student learning in simulated and clinical practice environments.
• Teach, supervise, and mentor students in hospitals, clinical sites, and laboratory environments, providing oversight of direct patient care while fostering clinical skills, critical thinking, clinical judgment, and professional nursing practice.
• Guide student learning through ongoing feedback, mentorship, and evaluation of performance in laboratory, hospital, and clinical settings.
• Provide individualized and small-group instruction to reinforce course concepts, promote clinical reasoning, and support safe, competent nursing practice.
• Assess student learning via clinical skills assessments, competency-based evaluations, clinical documentation, and observation.
• Supervise patient care activities and guide students in applying the nursing process, clinical judgment, and evidence-based care planning.
• Deliver high-quality instruction in classroom, laboratory, simulation, clinical, and online learning environments as assigned.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records of student learning, clinical performance, and evaluations in accordance with School of Nursing policies, university procedures, clinical agency requirements, and accreditation standards.
• Prepare instructional materials and coordinate laboratory, simulation, and clinical learning experiences.
• Participate in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of teaching practices to support student success, program quality, and accreditation standards.
• Ensure a safe, supportive, and effective learning environment by modeling and reinforcing safe nursing practice, quality and safety principles, and established procedures.
• Carry out responsibilities in accordance with university policies and applicable laws.
• Cultivate an environment of belonging that values, respects, and celebrates individual similarities and differences.
• Support and promote university student enrollment and retention initiatives.
• Perform additional duties as assigned, including continuing professional development, curriculum development, committee participation, student orientation, recruitment, and registration.
• Maintain regular posted office hours scheduled at times convenient for students.
• Participate in traditional academic functions, such as reporting initial student participation data and submitting final grades on time.
• Teach off campus as required.

Requirements

• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree.
• Two years of RN clinical experience through clinical practice or other avenues.
• Current State of Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Certification in CPR.

Qualifications

• Terminal degree in nursing (PhD or DNP).
• Five years of clinical RN experience.
• Two years of clinical or lab teaching experience.
• Certification in a nursing field of specialization.
