Full Time - Children's Learning Center Administrative Teacher

About the role

The LCCC Children’s Learning Center (CLC) is hiring a dedicated early childhood educator for our Gold Rated Step Up To Quality program. Located on the campus of Lorain County Community College, the CLC provides flexible care for a diverse population and offers unique educational opportunities. The Administrative Teacher will split their time between classroom instruction (at least 50% of the work week) and administrative support.

Responsibilities

• Provide care and educational opportunities for children enrolled in the program.
• Assist with day-to-day planning of a developmentally appropriate curriculum, including selection and preparation of materials and room arrangements that facilitate active learning.
• Practice Conscious Discipline techniques and model active listening skills and effective teaching strategies for LCCC's adult learners assigned to the classroom for observations and practicum placements.
• Communicate effectively with children, families, and LCCC faculty.
• Provide administrative support up to 50% of the work week, including:
  • Participating in projects as directed by the Manager and/or Supervisor.
  • Supporting the CLC Supervisor with implementation of LCCC College for Kids Programming.
  • Collaborating with the administrative team to maintain Step Up to Quality rating and licensing requirements.
  • Serving as a substitute for teaching staff to meet staffing needs.
  • Assisting with the screening and referral process for enrolled students, including coordination of tasks among CLC staff, screenings, referrals, and parent conferences.
  • Collaborating with campus departments and community organizations to schedule special programs and events.
  • Supporting the enrollment process, including orientations for enrolled families.
  • Attending outreach events to promote the CLC and Commodore Kids programming.
  • Planning, coordinating, and implementing programs to ensure effective home-school partnerships.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years teaching experience in an early childhood setting with toddler and preschool age groups.
• Familiarity with DCY Licensing Rules and Regulations and Step Up to Quality Standards.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to collaborate with various professionals to develop enhanced programming for the CLC (e.g., FabLab, Library, ECE program).
• Willingness to complete required in-service and participate in ongoing professional development as mandated by licensing and/or Step Up to Quality.
• Must meet all childcare staff member licensing regulations, including an extensive background check as required by DCY.
• Demonstrated knowledge and ability to work with young children and families.
